Lynchburg University will offer an MBA with a focus on sports management in the fall

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – Students at Lynchburg University will have the opportunity to enroll in a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on sports management this fall.

Program Director Dr. David Murphy explains that the new Honors MBA aims to equip graduate students with knowledge and skills related to the business and legal aspects of sport.

“It’s one of the few programs in the country that combines these two disciplines in this way, which makes it relevant, rigorous and unique,” Murphy said.

Possible careers include athletics administration, team and club management, and sports marketing and promotion at the community, college, and professional levels.

“We are excited about the opportunities this interdisciplinary program offers sports management professionals everywhere,” said Dr. Daniel Hedrick, director of the sports management department.
