FAU Sports Management MBA Ranked #11 Globally

Florida Atlantic University’s Sports Management MBA program has once again improved its ranking among the top 40 sports management postgraduate degrees in the world.

The FAU has moved to No.11 in the world for 2022 from No.19 last year, according to SportBusiness, a London-based global intelligence service. Among American schools, FAU fell from 10th to 10th place.

SportBusiness said the 11th annual rankings are based on two surveys, one by course leaders and the other by 2019 alumni. In compiling the rankings, the company also worked with an advisory board of seven people.

“We are proud to have another world ranking for our Sports Management MBA program,” said Daniel Cornely, Program Director of FAU. “The 2022 ranking represents the hard work of the Class of 2019. It shows their dedication to their professional growth within the sports industry. It is also a testament to our outstanding alumni, faculty, staff and business partners.

FAU’s sports management program has never finished below 30th place in the SportBusiness world rankings.

“We are thrilled with the continued recognition of our Sports Management MBA program,” said Daniel Gropper, Ph.D., Dean of the FAU College of Business. “The program that Dr. James Riordan has established prepares students for real-world challenges in a highly competitive industry, and we look forward to its continued success.”

The SportBusiness 2022 ranking follows that of 2022 US News and World Report ranking of the best online MBA programs offering sports business. FAU’s Sports Management Online MBA program is ranked #2 in the United States and #1 in the United States among public universities offering an online Sports Business MBA.

The FAU program was founded in 2000 by Riordan, who died earlier this year. He had over 25 years of experience in sports, events, facilities and entertainment management, regularly hosting presentations for MBA Sport students, which attracted sports celebrities, coaches and executives.

The College of Business created the Dr. Jim Riordan Student Support Endowment, to honor his legacy and how he has helped his students in many ways, including supporting them financially with his own money. This fund will help students in the sports MBA program, and donations can be made here.
